Wonderful day for Queen Victoria’s Golden Jubilee celebration. I spent most of last night wandering through the streets to observe the decorations and preliminary illuminations. [The electric lighting in the above photograph is not on Holborn but outside the Charles Holden designed Southgate Underground Station. The station is Grade II* listed making it well worth a trip to Zone 4 to take a ride on the original elevator, complete with up lighting, often used in period dramas. R.D.]
