From the plaque attached to the wall of the old Nevill Arms public house:

LONDON BOROUGH OF HACKNEY

FIRST BOMB OF WORLD WAR ONE

To fall from a Zeppelin on London

dropped in the garden of

The Nevill Arms public house

30 May 1915

[The Nevill Arms public house is no more, having been turned into a private residence along with so many other of London’s corner pubs. The plaque quoted above remains on the building and the garden where the bomb landed can be glimpsed over a blue hoarding as can be seen in the photograph above. R.D.]
