One of the exhibits in the MCC Museum at Lord’s Cricket Ground is a stuffed sparrow mounted on a cricket ball. The bird was struck, and killed by the ball on which it now perches for eternity during the England v Pakistan fixture of 1936, the deadly delivery coming from the Pakistan bowler Jahangir Khan. R.D.
