The Hooligan Nights – Clarence Rook, 1899:
It was a clear night, with a full moon shining and turning the Thames into a fairy river spanned by bridges of gossamer.
[ American astronaut James B. Irwin was pilot of the Lunar Module on the Apollo 15 mission to the moon in 1971. He was the 8th man to walk on the surface of the moon and strangely there is a little plaque with his name engraved on it attached to a London plane tree in Lambeth. He is not the only astronaut remembered this way in the borough several of the trees on Kennington Road near the junction with Lambeth Road have plaques with the names of astronauts attached to their trunks about twelve feet from the ground. Good morning Dr Wow, a tree with James B Irwin¹s name on it, love it, but why? Prof
Hi Prof, I can’t seem to find any information on why. I’m hoping one of my readers may be able to she’d some light.
