No. 481: Leonard Street, EC2

In the forecourt of Westland London, an architectural salvage company in Leonard Street, EC2 can be found several sculptures reclaimed from the Bank of England. Among them is the rather fine lion protecting a key by Alan Collins seen in the photograph above. According to the company’s description of the Portland stone high relief sculptures they ‘…represent and symbolise the 17th century founding, majesty, abundance and dynamic spirit of Credit and Trust around the World aspired to by the Bank’.
