This roundel set into the pavement outside the old Black Eagle Brewery on Brick Lane is one of 25 created by the artist Keith Bowler in 1995 as part of the Bethnal Green City Challenge. Each one depicts something of importance to the Spitalfields area. Rather sadly of the original 25 less than half are in existence today the others have become the victims of pavement replacement and over zealous council workers who have filled them in with tarmac after presumably considering them a trip hazard.
