London by Day and Night; or, Men and Things in the Great Metropolis – David W.Bartlett, 1852:
There is no object in London which has such a dismal aspect as this prison [the Old Bailey]. Its massive walls, so grim and dark, strike the beholder with an awe which chills him to the heart. Yet of all the countless throng which passes it each day, how few ever think of the wretched culprits who are dungeoned away from liberty within those dreary walls.
[DreamBagsJaguarShoes is a bar and exhibition space in two old shops on Kingsland Road in Shoreditch. The photograph above is of an exhibition at the venue, a work by Carnovsky a Milan based artist/designer duo comprised of Francesco Rugi and Silvia Quintanilla. This was their first exhibition in the United Kingdom and they chose the jungle as the subject for it.
