Macaws are very unusual in the skies above London but in some of the leafier suburbs of the Capitol rose-ringed parakeets are a pretty common site. “The Kingston Parakeets” as they have become known, apparently number in excess of 6,000. It is unknown from where the original breeding pair, or pairs, came from but one suggestion is that the feral flock is descended from a pair released by the late great Jimi Hendrix. R.D.
